Walsall Housing Group (WHG) and Aspire Housing have announced they are in merger talks.

The two Midlands-based housing providers are in early discussions about the move, which would create a £200m-turnover landlord managing 32,000 homes.

In a statement WHG said the move is “based upon the close alignment of both organisations’ values, their future vision and the geographies in which they operate”

It said: “It is believed that the two organisations will be stronger working together as a larger organisation that will have higher levels of resilience to respond to the increasingly challenging operating environment faced by housing providers.

“The new group will be focussed on unlocking efficiency savings to create additional capacity to invest in new homes, existing homes and delivery of services to its collective customers.”

WHG reported turnover of £146m last year, with 22,881 homes under management. WHG completed 506 homes in 2024/25.

Aspire is smaller with revenue of £54.8m and 9,362 homes. It completed 37 homes in 2024/25 and said it is planning to build 71 further homes this year.
