West Midlands association pubishes audited accounts

WHG has said its pending merger with Aspire will generate enough capacity and efficiency savings to build more homes, invest more in stock improvements and boost support services.

The 22,000-home west midlands-based association in its financial statement for 2025/26, said:” The merger would bring clear benefits for customers and communities, combining the best from both organisations.

“In terms of value for money, it would enable the new entity to make a step change in efficiency of service delivery, central services and infrastructure costs. By generating efficiency savings, capacity would increase for both entities to enable the delivery of more new homes, more investment in existing homes and more investment in support services for customers.

The audited accounts also confirmed several figures trailed in the summer by WHG.

WHG confirmed its overall group turnover is £147.4m, slightly above last year’s figure of £146.1. Its social housing lettings income rose £5.8m to £138.4m, however this was largely offset by a £5.1m drop in income from shared ownership first tranche sales.

The group’s income from asset disposals rose from £7.7m to £11.3m, with Right to Buy sales income increasing by £2.9m.

Surplus increased from £24m to £33m. Its development fell from 506 homes to 270.

The boards of Aspire and WHG agreed to proceed with a merger in July.
