New chief executive to start this summer

The chair of a North West-based housing development consortium has been appointed as the new chief executive of Southway Housing Trust

Chair of JV North, John Bowker, will take up the role at the Manchester-based, 6,000-home provider in July when its current chief executive Karen Mitchell retires.

Bowker is currently the executive director of operations at 12,000-home provider Stockport Homes Group.

Bowker said: “I grew up in Manchester and have a deep-rooted commitment to its communities and I look forward to working with Southway and its tenants to set priorities for the years ahead to ensure the best possible services for customers and new homes that meet local needs.”

Bowker was previously the head of property for the North West and Scotland at Homes Group. 

Southway Housing Trust owns and manages around 6000 homes. The majority of its homes are in Burnage, Chorlton, Didsbury and Withington, with some properties in Tameside and East Cheshire.
