Gail Teasdale has resigned as chief executive of Broadacres Housing Association

Gail Teasdale, who has led the 6,900-home housing association since 2018, will stand down for unspecified “personal reasons”.

In a short statement the housing association, whose head office is based in Northallerton, said further announcements about the group’s leadership “will follow”.

Helen Simpson, chair of Broadacres, said “The board and I would like to thank Gail for her hard work and commitment to Broadacres as we have delivered great homes and great customer experiences to our customers and the communities we serve.”

Teasdale said: “It has been a privilege to champion the voice of rural housing in north Yorkshire and nationally. I am proud of what Broadacres has contributed during the years I have served as chief executive and of the role rural housing can play in the community.”

Broadacres has previously announced plans to build 1,000 homes in the five years to 2028 and upgrade all of its homes to SAP C by 2028.

The group’s governance rating was downgraded one notch to a still compliant ‘G2’ last October, while its viability grading is also compliant, at V2.

The regulator stated at the time of the judgement it “identified a level of error and inconsistency within the stress testing and mitigation reporting to board that limited the board’s role in managing risk”.
