No updates have been issued as watchdog continues investigation into IT security incident

The Housing Ombudsman’s online services remain offline following a cyber attack last week.

On 13 October the watchdog posted a notice to its website informing users that a third-party IT security incident is impacting its case management system.

They were told that they would be unable to submit a new complaint, view an existing complaint, or use the web chat, webform, Learning Hub, or landlord portal until further notice. Residents were asked to email or call to raise a new complaint.

“We’re working to restore our services as quickly as possible and will share updates when we can,” read the message.

The website notice remains unchanged. The ombudsman said it had “no further comment” to what is currently on its website.

Last week, the Housing Ombudsman Service said it is working with its external supplier to “establish the full facts, including the extent of the data involved” and investigating whether any personal information from residents has been accessed.

The incident was reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which has been approached for comment.
