Housebuilder reports strong first half hit by £51m in ‘legacy’ build issues

Barratt has reported an interim a pre-tax profit up 1.7% on last year, despite having to incur a £51m charge to repair “legacy properties” affected by building safety issues.

The UK’s largest housebuilder said it had brought in a pre-tax profit of £430m on revenue of £2.5bn for the half-year to December 31, with revenue up 10% on the 2019 half-year.
