Package includes £50m to reopen its transitional accommodation capital programme
The Welsh government has announced a £60m funding boost to support housing delivery across the country.

The investment includes £50m for the transitional accommodation capital programme (TACP) enabling the scheme to re-open for 2026-27.
TCAP provides capital funding to local authorities and registered social landlords to increase housing supply through acquisitions, conversions and refurbishment of void properties.
The scheme temporarily closed to new bids in late 2025 as the government had fully committed its available capital funding. It has supported 2,700 homes so far, with a further 1,000 homes expected through this year’s programme.
An additional £11m in repayable finance has also been made available for the Land for Housing loan scheme this financial year. Combined with recycled loan funding, the initiative will provide total funding of £23m this financial year. It aims to support the delivery of up to 850 additional homes by securing land sites for housing development.
Jayne Bryant, cabinet secretary for housing and local government, said: “Despite some of the most challenging conditions the housebuilding sector has faced in a generation, including the aftermath of the pandemic, disrupted supply chains, rising material and labour costs, and prolonged high interest rates, housing delivery in Wales has remained resilient. We promised to deliver more homes and we are delivering.”
Social housing capital investment has exceeded £2bn over the current Senedd term, including £466m in this financial year.
