Deal agreed for transfer of engagements

Two small housing associations are to join 40,000-home provider Stonewater on 31 December.

Porthove Housing Association (PHHA) and the Rotary Club of Hove Housing Society (RCofHHS), which own 97 properties in total between them, will join Stonewater via a transfer of engagements. Management of the properties will pass from the providers, which will cease to exist as legal entities, to Stonewater.

Announcing the deal today, a Stonewater spokesperson said: “Due to continued due diligence, the current intention is for PHA and The Society to join the Stonewater Group via a Transfer of Engagements into Stonewater Limited on or prior to 31 December 2025.”

Jonathan Layzell, chief executive of Stonewater, had previously said in June that he was hoping to welcome the providers to the group.

He said: “The transfer of homes will allow the organisations and their customers access to Stonewater’s large scale ability to deliver a wider choice of homes and enhanced services, while being confident of a continued commitment to local engagement and customer service.”

The proposals comes off the back of Stonewater’s acquisition of Greenoak and Mount Green Housing Association over the past two years.
