Standard revised to take into account 10-year rent settlement and last week’s rent convergence announcement
The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has published its revised rent standard, which registered providers in England will need to adhere to from 1 April.

The new standard has been drawn up to take into account recent government announcements on rent-setting and convergence.
These include a 10-year settlement with rent increasing each year by up to the consumer price index measure of inflation plus one per cent. As announced by government last week, landlords will also be able to increase weekly rents on homes below formula rent by £1 more each week from April 2027 and £2 from 2028.
Fiona MacGregor, chief executive of RSH said: “We are pleased to be able to finalise our rent standard based on the direction from the government.
“This will bring more certainty to the sector, so landlords can plan for their investment in the quality of existing homes and more homes for the future.”
