Fitzgerald began his career aged 16 at Willmott Dixon Construction before moving into its housing business, where he worked alongside Hill’s founder and chief executive Andy Hill.

Fitzgerald later joined Furlong Homes and then Telford Homes, where he spent two decades and served as group managing director.

The housebuilder said the appointment will “play a key role” in delivering its 2025–2030 strategic business plan, “creating additional leadership capacity across two of its largest regional businesses.”

Key developments in Fitzgerald’s regions include Marleigh Park in Cambridge, Little Chalfont Park in Buckinghamshire, Canalside Quarter in Oxford, Whalebones Park in Barnet and Sawyers Close in Windsor.

Hill has an ambition to double its annual turnover to £2.3bn by 2030. It employs approximately 1,000 people and completed more than 3,300 homes in the last financial year, with over 42,000 units currently in the pipeline.
