Permission has been granted for the latest phases in a development of up to 1,500 homes on the outskirts of the Welsh capital
Planners at Cardiff Council have given the go ahead to the latest 167-home phase of a Persimmon Homes East Wales development in the northwest of the city.
Work can now commence on phases 4B and 5A of The Parish in Capel Llanilltern, which includes a range of unit types, from one-bed flats to four-bed houses, 62 of which will be reserved for a local housing association.
Planners also approved detailed plans for the Local Centre of nearly 19,000 square feet for commercial use, which includes a new public square for outdoor dining and markets.
Construction is expected to begin this autumn, with the homes ready for occupation in the second half of next year.

Persimmon is delivering up to 1,500 homes across this multiphase site on the outskirts of Cardiff.
Persimmon Homes East Wales’ managing director, Lee Hawker, said: “We are not only proud of being able to deliver those much-needed homes in the capital – both for local people and housing associations – but the key community infrastructure we have promised throughout the process, including the much-desired local centre.
“This will all be complemented by a new school, shops, offices, and sports pitches once complete, ensuring that this large community is brought together in a sustainable and attractive way.
“Placemaking is central to our mission, and we cannot wait to make these plans a reality, as Persimmon leaves behind a positive and lasting legacy on-site.”
