Kate Dodsworth is now deputy chief executive of the Regulator of Social Housing

Dodsworth will take up the position today, succeeding Jonathan Walters who is now chief executive.

Dodsworth joined RSH in 2021 as chief of regulatory engagement, with an aim to ensure delivery of effective regulation, including the introduction of revised consumer standards. She will play a key role in leadership and development of the overall strategy at the regulator, driving business improvement and ensuring regulatory approaches are continuously developed.

Previously, between 2018 and 2021, Dodsworth was chief executive of Gateway Housing Association. She was also executive director of people and communities at Optivo (now Southern) and chair of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

RSH regulates around 1,600 registered providers of social housing in England.

It sets standards that providers are required to adhere to, such as the governance and financial viability and consumer standards. It carries out inspections and issues regulatory judgements for individual providers. It has powers to take enforcement action such as issuing warnings, requiring improvement plans, issuing fines or intervening in how organisations are run.
