The group has confirmed former Barratt director Ennis as its first CEO since it was set up as a parent company of Tilia Homes and Hopkins Homes last year.

Ennis previously spent nearly 30 years at Barratt Developments, where he held a number of senior leadership roles, most recently serving as regional managing director for London and the South East.

Untypical was set up by the owner of Tilia and Hopkins, European investment firm Terra Firma, as it aims to increase development to 2,000 homes a year and become “a leading UK housebuilder”.

Hopkins generated turnover of £157m in the year to March 2024 and built 526 homes.

Guy Hands, owner of untypical and founder of Terra Firma, said: “Gary is an accomplished leader within the UK housebuilding sector, with deep operational and strategic expertise.

”He is strongly aligned to our priorities: build quality, operational efficiency, safety, customer-centricity and culture.”
