Dan Haines has been promoted to land director following the death of predecessor Keith Parrett

Essex-based house builder Hill Group has promoted Dan Haines to land director to oversee the company’s residential land portfolio regional expansion.

His appointment follows the death of Hill’s former land director Keith Parrett who passed away in August following a short illness.

Haines joined Hill in May 2022 as head of land, where he spearheaded the business’s expansion into the South West region.

He is a qualified RICS surveyor with a specialisation in planning and development. Prior to joining Hill, Haines spent ten years with Savills, then joined Sovereign followed by Keepmoat, where he was regional managing director.

The business says Haines will build on the legacy and vision set by his “highly respected” predecessor Parrett.

Haines’s principal focus will be on identifying projects that can achieve planning approval and commence construction within three years.

Andy Hill, group chief executive of The Hill said: “[Haines] brings a wealth of experience as well as an understanding of our culture and strategic vision.”

Parrett’s death was announced Hill on LinkedIn a month ago by Andy Hill, who wrote: “We are deeply saddened by the news that Keith Parrett, our land director, passed away last week after a short illness.

“Keith was highly respected by everyone at The Hill Group for his vast experience in land acquisitions, partnering and infrastructure, as well as his notable leadership skills.

“Spanning decades, Keith’s excellent career made him a highly regarded industry figure, holding senior roles at Homes England, Redrow, Barratt Developments, Taylor Woodrow and St James before joining Hill.

“His absence will be felt across the company as well as throughout the industry and our thoughts and sympathies are with his wife Sally and son Alex.“
