The housebuilder is planning to expand its activities in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Suffolk and East London

L&G-owned housebuilder Cala Homes has announced the internal promotion of Glenn Copper to managing director for its North Home Counties division.

Copper’s promotion from sales and marketing director means he’s now responsible for driving growth across Cambridgeshire, Essex, parts of Suffolk and East London.

Cala’s North Home Counties business has delivered around 330 homes per year since 2021 and it intends to deliver more than 400 homes in the region per year by 2026.

“We are actively looking to secure sites to complement our land strategy and would encourage landowners and agents with any development opportunities to get in touch with us,” Copper said in a statement.

“Key to our success is our people, and my focus will be on developing the great talent within our 100-plus team and supporting them as we navigate the challenges of the coming months.”

The home builder has recently acquired Netherthall Gardens, a site for up to 200 new homes in Cambridge.

Following the second phase of Ufford Chase in Great Bentley, Essex, it has acquired two new sites in the Maldon District area and Colchester City Council area.

“We are committed to building upon Cala’s success in Cambridgeshire and Essex, where we already have a legacy to be proud of. We’re also looking to expand the business through new opportunities in West and South Suffolk, and into East London,” Copper said

Last month, Cala Homes revealed pre-tax profits fell 25% to £73m, from £98m the prior year, on revenue of £619m, down from £688m in 2022.

Insurance giant L&G which owns the housebuilding subsidiary, said Cala Homes had “continued to perform well […] in the face of a challenging market”. The firm saw completions drop by 6.5% in the period to 1,428 units, from 1,527 in 2022.
