Homes will be owned by Church Housing Association and managed by Bromford
The Church of England’s new registered provider, Church Housing Association (CHA), has made its first acquisition of affordable homes.

Located in Innsworth, Gloucestershire, the seven units will be owned by CHA and let to its tenants, with Bromford managing the properties on its behalf under a newly agreed management arrangement.
Residents are expected to move into their homes before Christmas.
Law firm Trowers & Hamlins advised CHA on the acquisition, after advising the landlord in 2025 on the establishment and registration of CHA as a registered provider of social housing.
CHA was set up following the 2021 publication of the Church of England’s Coming Home report, commissioned by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York in response to the housing crisis.
Earlier this month, the Church’s private limited company Church Development Agency (CDA), submitted its first planning application for new homes on behalf of CHA.
The proposal would deliver 17 new homes at Newbigin House Gardens in Winson Green, Birmingham.
CDA and CHA will work to speed up the delivery of affordable homes on land owned by dioceses and parishes.
The Church’s endowment fund, managed by the Church Commissioners, includes a portfolio of strategic development land on which the latter plan to build 32,000 homes over 20 years, of which at least 9,000 will be for affordable tenures. Each of the 42 Church of England dioceses also own varying amounts of land in their own right, some of which is developable.
Bromford, part of Bromford Flagship LiveWest, manages more than 77,000 homes across central, south west, and eastern England.
