Outgoing EMH Group chief executive to take up non-executive role by December
Chan Kataria has been appointed to the board of the Regulator of Social Housing.
Kataria, who announced earlier this week he is retiring from his role as chief executive of 22,000-home EMH Group, will join RSH by the beginning of December.
Kataria, who has led Leicestershire-based EMH for 21 years, is also on the board of the Chartered Institute of Housing and is a member of the Confederation of British Industry’s midlands board. He received an OBE in 2017 for services to housing,
RSH also announced the appointment of former banker David Cassidy to its board. Cassidy, who retired last December after completing 43 years at Barclays, is a social housing finance specialist.
Baroness Taylor, parliamentary under-secretary of state, said: “I welcome the appointment of Chan and David as new non-executive directors who will be valuable additions to the RSH board.
”As this government works to deliver the biggest increase in social and affordable housing in a generation, while ensuring homes are safe and decent for tenants, they will bring with them the skills necessary to help ensure the RSH effectively regulates the sector.”
Bernadette Conroy, chair of the RSH, said: David and Chan bring considerable knowledge and expertise in social housing finance and management respectively, which will enhance the Board’s collective skills. I am looking forward to working with them.”
