UK house prices rose 0.9% in October

Official figures show year-on-year growth the highest recorded since October 2016

UK house prices shot up this year at the fastest rate since October 2016 according to the latest ONS data - although it warned that disruption caused by covid-19 means the figures may have to be revised in future.

Average house prices across the UK to October were up 5.4%, with 1.1% of the increase seen since September - meaning property prices are increasing nearly eight times faster than they were a year ago.
