Housing associations, councils and a combined authority form new group to pool knowledge and attract funding
A group of social landlords in the Tees Valley combined authority have formed a new partnership.

The Tees Valley Housing Partnership (TVHP), which consists of 14 members, aims to pool members’ knowledge and expertise and more easily attract funding and investment.
The 14 members manage more than 52,000 homes across Tees Valley. Its members include eight housing associations, five councils and the Tees Valley Combined Authority (see box below).
Matt Forest, chair of the TVHP and chief executive of Thirteen Group, said one of the first pieces of work the partnership will do is produce a shared strategic pipeline of housing projects to make sure homes are being built in the right places in the region.

The group consists of 14 members. They are:
- Accent
- Bernicia
- Beyond Housing
- Home Group
- Karbon Homes
- North Star Housing Group
- Railway Housing Association
- Thirteen Group
- Tees Valley Combined Authority
- Darlington Borough Council
- Hartlepool Borough Council
- Middlesbrough Council
- Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council
- Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council
He said: “Our members already have plans to deliver 3,500 new homes in the next five years. But we want to do more. We’re seeing new build homes attract up to 200 applications each and we want to close the gap between supply and demand as quickly as possible.”
James Walder, vice-chair of the TVHP and chief executive of North Star, said: “Tees Valley suffers from some of the worst health inequalities in the country. In some areas, the gap in life expectancy between the most and least deprived neighbourhoods is more than 17 years.
“We’re looking to join up the delivery of housing, care and support services for older people and residents with complex needs and work closely with local authorities to tackle homelessness and the over reliance on temporary accommodation.
The TVHP is the latest in a line of regional partnerships formed by social landlords (see box below).
