Two schemes will include close to 500 homes on the historic Old Kent Road
Architect Maccreanor Lavington has been given the OK by Southwark council for a brace of schemes totalling nearly 500 homes around the Old Kent Road in south London.
A 39-storey brick-clad residential tower is the centrepiece of a three buildings scheme that will include a total of 372 homes, retail, workspace and café. It will also include roof gardens on the lower levels.
A church on the site is being relocated to the nearby Peckham Park Road along with a grade II-listed mural designed by Polish artist Adam Kossowski in 1965.
Client on the scheme, called Civic Centre and Livesey Place, is a team featuring Civic Centre Ltd, Shaviram Development Ltd and Old Kent Road Regeneration Ltd.
Other firms working on the scheme include planning consultant DP9, project director Chris Horn Associates and structural engineer AKT II.
And the architect has been given the green light for a further 111 homes as part of the Ruby Street Triangle development on the road.
A stepped tower rising to 22 storeys is the focus of the development, which will also include workspace as well as retail and cafes.
Other firms working on the scheme for developer Acorn Commercial include planning consultant GVA and M&E engineer Waterman.
