Jonathan Walters says fees unspent in 2025/26 will be reimbursed
The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has set out its fee increases for 2026/27.
In a letter to providers today, RSH announced the amount paid by private registered providers owning more than 1,000 homes will rise by 1.8% for 2026/27, from £9.80 per home owned to £9.98.
Local authorities with more than 1,000 homes will face a higher percentage increase of 5%, with the annual regulatory fee rising from £7.55 in 2025/26 to £7.93 in 2026/27.
Providers with fewer than 1,000 homes will pay a flat fee of £710, up 4% on the £682.50 charged in 2025/26.
Jonathan Walters, deputy chief executive of the RSH, said fees unspent in 2025/26 will be rebated to providers.
In the letter he wrote: “We work with the Fees and Resources Advisory Panel, which brings together representatives from across the sector to inform our approach to fee-charging and how we use fee income.”
