Elly Hoult has taken up a board role at Peabody, in addition to her roles as chief operating officer and deputy chief executive

Elly Hoult, who is also chief operating officer, has today taken up the position.

Peabody said the appointment is part of its move to “refresh and strengthen the diversity, skills, perspectives and lived experience” of its board, which is responsible for managing the whole £1bn-turnover group. It follows Peabody in September announcing the appointment of resident Nivene Powell, meaning residents now make up three of the 11 board members.

Resident Peter Baffoe was appointed vice chair in the summer. David Hardy and Helen Edwards stood down in September at the end of their terms.

Hoult’s appointment also means the 109,000-home provider now has both its chief executive, Ian McDermott, and its deputy chief executive sitting on its board.

Caroline Corby, chair of Peabody, said: “Elly’s experience and insight will be invaluable to the Board and ensure we continue to put residents at the heart of everything we do.

“She brings a deep understanding of residents’ priorities and the day to day of realities on the ground of taking a local approach to deliver safe, high-quality homes and services.”

Hoult was president of the Chartered Institute of Housing until October this year.
