Andrew Burns steps up from non-executive director role
Housing Plus Group has announced the appointment of a new group chair.
A year on from its merger, the group has chosen Andrew Burns to take over from Catherine Dass, who retired after more than eight years on the board.

Dass had led the group through a transitional year after the merger between Wrekin Housing Group and Housing Plus Group.
The combined group now operates 34,000 homes across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Telford & Wrekin.
Burns first joined the group’s board in 2022, previously serving as an independent member of the group’s audit and risk committee.
He has spent much of his career in the public sector, including more than a decade in senior roles at Staffordshire County Council.
“I’m delighted to have been named as the new Chair of Housing Plus Group and thank my fellow Board members for their support,” said Burns.
“It’s great to have picked up the baton from Catherine and I wish her every success with her next steps.
“As I look to the future, I’m excited by the opportunities that we have in front of us. We will continue to be focused on delivering on the ambition we have for the Group, and most importantly our customers, as we create places people are proud to call home.”
Group chief executive, Wayne Gethings added “Exactly one year on from our merger, this announcement is a big milestone for us as a Group.
“I am looking forward to working with Andrew, and the rest of the Board, to continue to deliver great services for our customers and communities, to reinforce the resilience of our organisation, be a great employer and to make a real difference in our region.”
Housing Plus’ merger last year was followed by four new appointments to its senior leadership team, including a new chief financial officer.
