Eleanor Barnfield, housing officer at Valleys to Coast, died in hospital on Monday 19 October.

Valleys to Coast housing officer Eleanor Barnfield, 47, was found alive by South Wales Police officers after crashing her car into a wall, but with “sustained puncture wounds unrelated to the collision”, in the early afternoon of Monday 19 October. She later died in hospital.

Barnfield was understood to be on duty at retirement village Ger-Y-Nant when the incident took place.

Jo Oak, chief executive at Valleys to Coast, said: “Eleanor was a much-valued member of the Valleys to Coast team, and her loss has been deeply felt by everyone who knew and worked alongside her.

“She made an important contribution to our organisation and to the communities we serve, and she will be remembered with great warmth and affection by her colleagues.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Eleanor’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time. We are doing everything we can to support those affected by her loss.”

Clifford Foster, aged 61, of Bridgend, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Newport Magistrates Court today.
