North Yorkshire landlord appoints Lee Sugden on a six-month contract
Broadacres Housing Association has appointed Lee Sugden as interim chief executive.
The 6,000-home provider has hired Sugden following the departure of chief executive Gail Teasdale from the organisation last month for unspecified “personal reasons.”
Sugden will serve as interim for six months while the north Yorkshire-based housing provider seeks to recruit a permanent chief executive.
Sugden is a well-known social housing figure, notably serving as chief executive of housing assocaition and former arms length management organisation (ALMO) Salix Homes from 2014 to 2020.
He has also served as interim chief executive at Empower Housing Association, helping return it to regulatory compliance. He spent seven months as interim director of transition at Northward Housing, leading its transformation from an ALMO to a Manchester City Council service.
Writing on the LinkedIn social media platform, Sugden said he was “delighted and very proud to be joining the fantastic Broadacres Housing Association team as their Interim CEO.”
Broadacres has previously announced plans to build 1,000 homes in the five years to 2028 and upgrade all of its homes to SAP C by 2028.
The group’s governance rating was downgraded one notch to a still compliant ‘G2’ last October, while its viability grading is also compliant, at V2.
The regulator stated at the time of the judgement it “identified a level of error and inconsistency within the stress testing and mitigation reporting to board that limited the board’s role in managing risk”.
