Newly merged partnerships housebuilder working with Riverside on 275-home scheme
Countryside Partnerships has won planning permission for a 275-home scheme in Beckenham, south London, working with housing association Riverside.
The newly created partnerships housebuilder formed from the merger of Vistry and Countryside received permission from Bromley Council this week for the HTA-designed redevelopment of the Calverley Close Estate, which will include 179 affordable homes for existing residents and 96 homes to buy.
Countryside Partnership said work will now start on the site in spring, in advance of construction beginning in October this year. The first homes are scheduled to be completed in early 2025, with the delivery of the entire project phased over 10 years.
As well as delivering a net biodiversity gain, Countryside said the scheme will also provide electric car charging points, green spaces and an on-site car club.
The approval came as another HTA-designed housing scheme was approved in the capital this week. Notting Hill Genesis’ 364-home reserved matters application for the latest phase for the Grahame Park Estate redevelopment was approved by Barnet council last night.
The 67,500-home housing association said the approval meant that it could deliver 364 affordable and market sale homes, a Notting Hill Genesis estate office, shops, a café, and a community centre, a new energy centre, and high-quality landscaping and play features including a woodland walk for use by cyclists and pedestrians.
HTA worked alongside Patel Taylor Architects in drawing up the scheme. NHG said work on the build will start in 2024, once tenants have been moved into new homes being built in the first phase of the estate redevelopment. NHG have been working at Grahame Park since 2003, and have built 700 homes, with 200 more under construction. In 2020 Barnet council approved a masterplan for 2,088 homes in the area.
