Council housebuilding soars to ‘28-year high’

Council housebuilding is at its highest level in almost 30 years, according to a study by the Royal Town Planning Institute.

A survey of 83 English council found that at least 9,000 homes were directly created by local authorities in 2017-18, with 43% of these affordable and 23%.
