Bellway Home Space is designed to supply 3,000 timber frame kits a year by 2030
British housebuilder Bellway has opened a new 135,000 sq ft timber frame factory in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield.

Known as Bellway Home Space, the factory signals intentions to increase its use of sustainable, timber frame construction.
The factory, developed in partnership with Donaldson’s Timber Systems, uses robotic machinery from Swedish manufacturer Randek.
Jason Honeyman, chief executive officer at Bellway, said: “Increasing our use of timber frame construction will play a central role in shaping the future of the business, delivering much-needed energy efficient homes while continuing to meet the high standards of quality our customers expect from Bellway.”
The factory has already begun to supply Bellway with timber frame kits.
Production is set to increase to around 3,000 homes each year by 2030.
“The scale of the facility, combined with its state-of-the-art machinery and excellent location, enables us to manufacture high-quality timber frame components efficiently and support the delivery of much-needed homes across our developments,” said Chris Hagan, managing director at Home Space, Bellway.
Hagan said Mansfield was chosen as the factory’s location due to its manufacturing heritage and the easy access to Bellway’s wider divisions across the UK.
Last year, Bellway completed construction of 8,749 homes in the year to 31 July.
