Pat Richie will stay in role until end of April 2027
Housing minister Matthew Pennycook has extended Pat Ritchie’s tenure as chair of Homes England for another six months to the end of April 2027.
The former Newcastle City Council and Homes and Communities Agency boss was appointed to the role by Angela Rayner in April 2025 for up to 18 months. The extension means Ritchie will serve in the role for a total of two years.
Homes England said the extension “ensures continuity of experienced leadership for the Homes England board.”
Amy Rees, Homes England chief executive, added: “[Ritchie] brings a deep understanding of places and the opportunities and challenges facing different parts of the country.
“Her experience will really help us to accelerate our regional model so that we can work more closely with partners in places to drive delivery and achieve better outcomes for communities.”
Ritchie succeeded former chair Peter Freeman, who stood down alongside former Homes England chief executive Peter Denton following the 2024 change in government.
