Small provider is focused on refugee and migrant housing in London
Arhag Housing Association has been placed on the regulator’s gradings under review list.
The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) announced this morning that it was “currently investigating matters which may indicate serious failings” that could impact the provider’s ability to meet the governance and financial viability standard.

Founded in 1979, Arhag was set up to respond to housing needs among Britain’s refugee and migrant communities.
According to its website, it now manages more than 900 homes across 15 local authorities, of which 14 are in London. This includes a hostel in Stratford for people who need “support and guidance”.
As a housing association with fewer than 1,000 social housing units, Arhag is not publicly graded by the RSH, but it must still meet regulatory standards.
The regulator makes an announcement that a provider is under review when it is being investigated in relation to an issue that may result in a downgrade to a non-compliant grade (G3 or G4 or V3 or V4).
Once the investigation has been completed, the outcome will be confirmed in a regulatory judgement, at which point the regulator will reveal the reasons for the listing.
Arhag has been contacted for comment.
