Three social housing providers now signed up to NHQB’s consumer code

Abri and Poplar HARCA have both adopted the New Homes Quality Board’s (NHQB) Shared Ownership Code.

The code, which has been in operation since last October, aims to ensure customers benefit from transparency on costs, responsibilities and processes, as well as stronger protections that go beyond minimum standards.

The pair are the second and third social housing providers to sign up to the code, following LiveWest’s adoption last month.

Between them, the three own and manage more than 8,500 shared ownership homes. Abri manages approximately 5,800 across southern England, while Poplar HARCA has around 500 in Tower Hamlets.

“Abri and Poplar HARCA’s adoption of the Shared Ownership Code is an important moment for the sector,” said Natasha Greenwood, director of shared ownership at the NHQB.

“By adopting the Code, both organisations have demonstrated their commitment to giving shared homeowners better, clearer, and more consistent support.

“Adoption is the start of a journey, and we will support providers at every stage. Following LiveWest’s adoption of the Code last month, we look forward to building on this momentum. We hope many more providers will follow their lead, helping to drive positive change across the sector.”

Seven other housing providers have applied to join the Shared Ownership Code and are at various stages of the application process.
