New standalone business brings together existing capacities within contracting firm
Willmott Dixon has launched a development and investment business which will focus on regeneration, housebuilding, student accommodation and public-private partnerships.
Announced at UKREiiF yesterday (Wednesday), Willmott Dixon Developments brings together the firm’s existing development, investment and regeneration capabilities under a single national platform.
The business will be led by David Atkinson, director of development and investment, and Chris Wheeler, national head of land and development, who will be supported by regional teams across England and Wales.

“We exist to solve the problem we hear most often from council and university partners: how to move stalled or complex sites from ambition to delivery,” said Atkinson.
“Our role is to act as a single, accountable partner that can shape the scheme, structure the funding, share risk where appropriate, and bring the certainty that comes with knowing how a project will be built.”
He said the firm was launching as “established players in this space, not market entrants”, explaining that the standalone business “simply makes it easier for partners to see what we offer and how to work with us.”
The firm is already involved with a number of regeneration schemes, including the multi-site redevelopment of Torbay town centre.
In Great Yarmouth, it is leading on a masterplanning and planning strategy for North Quay, while in Weymouth the team was last year appointed by Dorset Council to a regeneration partnership in joint venture with Milligan.
