Osborne-built development will feature 19 affordable homes
Work has started on a David Miller-designed housing scheme in Westminster that will see an under-used car park turned into 60 new homes.
The new Parsons North building, being built on the site of the parking space off the Edgware Road, will feature 10 apartments for social rent and nine for intermediate rent.
The other 41 homes will be for private sale.
The £27m scheme, which is being built by contractor Osborne, will feature 54 car parking spaces and retail space.
Completion of the development, which was granted planning two years ago, is expected in the spring of 2021.
Councillor Rachael Robathan, Westminster’s cabinet member for finance, property and regeneration, said the Parsons North scheme was another step towards the borough’s plan to deliver 1,850 affordable homes by 2023.
“By taking an underused space and turning it into 60 homes, we are showing how innovation can help to solve London’s housing shortage,” she added.
Last month Osborne was appointed to build 77 new homes across three sites as part of a £42m deal with Westminster council.
That job is part of a wider Church Street masterplan, drawn up by Peter Brett Associates and LDA Design, which will deliver 1,750 homes.
