Councillors resolve to grant planning permission for joint venture scheme between the council and Taylor Wimpey

Wandsworth council has given resolution to grant planning permission for 2,500 homes to be built at the Winstanley and York Road estates in Battersea, south London.

A joint venture between Taylor Wimpey and the council are set deliver the homes when they are fully approved, 35% of which will be deemed affordable.

Work is already under way on part of the estates to construct nearly 50 affordable homes.

The broader proposal will be sent to London mayor Sadiq Khan for approval once given the go-ahead by Wandsworth.

The scheme, part of the Winstanley and York Road regeneration programme, will feature a mixture of tenures from private sale to social rent.

The JV said the development would incorporate community infrastructure including a 2.5ha park, a leisure and community centre, a library, plus a childrens’ centre and nursery.

The original estate was built in phases before and after the Second World War.
