Affordable homes will make up at least 100 of the total 600 homes being developed in Partington

Partington scheme, Galliford Try Partnerships and Trafford Housing Trust

Plans by Trafford Housing Trust (THT) and Galliford Try Partnerships to build 600 homes on a brownfield site in Greater Manchester have been approved.

Having given the scheme the thumbs-up, local councillors urged the pair to start building the development on the site of a former National Grid storage facility in Partington “as soon as possible”.

Work is expected to start later this year.

Half of the first 148 homes to be built in an initial phase under the Galliford Try-owned Linden Homes brand and THT’s Laurus Homes moniker will be affordable.

And affordable homes will make up at least 100 of the total 600 homes, which will range from two- to four-bedroom units.

As well as creating new public open space and new walkways across the development, THT and Galliford Try Partnerships will help to fund improvements to the area’s sports and recreation facilities.

L&Q announced earlier this month it had agreed to buy THT as part of its plans to step up its activities in the North-west.
