Together, which manages 39,000 homes and 33,000-home Vico have announced they are exploring joining as one organisation.

The two organisations said in a joint statement the process is at an early stage and the next steps include creating a business case. No final decision has been made.

A spokesperson said: “A merger could give the combined organisation greater capacity to invest in the things that matter most to residents. This includes safe and well-maintained homes, reliable repairs, responsive customer service and stronger neighbourhoods. We also want to support the delivery of new homes for people who need them, helping to tackle the country’s housing crisis.”

Together, whose registered office is in Halifax, reported turnover of £305m in 2025/26. Vico, who have were until last year known as Wakefield & District Housing, reported income of £228m.

Kevin Ruth, chief executive of Together Housing Group, said “We are exploring whether coming together could help us go further and faster for residents, while creating a stronger and more resilient organisation for the future.”

Martyn Shaw, chief executive of Vico Homes, said: “We’re carefully considering whether we can achieve more together than we could on our own. Our focus remains on providing what our customers need, investing in homes, supporting colleagues and local communities.”
