Prime minister re-commits to housebuilding target in set piece speech, saying ‘brave’ action is necessary to drive bold action
Keir Starmer has defended his 1.5m homes target, admitting it is ambitious but stressing it is necessary in order to drive bold change on housebuilding.
The prime minister outlined six ‘milestones’ for the Labour government’s first five years in power in a set piece speech at Pinewood Studios this morning, which the party has billed as the “most ambitious yet honest programme for government in a generation”.
As one of his six priorities, he re-committed to the government’s pledge to build 1.5 million homes by the end of the parliament.
