Proposals to turn a car park above a shopping centre in Hertfordshire into 119 apartments have been lodged with Broxbourne council.

Todd Architects’ plans for the 8,800mproject include a mix of one- and two-bed units, aa well as a number of three-bedroom homes.

The scheme will sit above The Pavilions Shopping Centre in Waltham Cross.

The homes will be in two blocks connected by exterior walkways and will also include a communal landscaped roof terrace and garden.

Todd’s London office principal John Chapman said the project was part of an emerging trend to add residential elements to shopping centres to improve their viability.

The scheme is also close to the town’s train station, which will be on the route of Crossrail 2 if it gets the go-ahead.
