Housing association will build 72 flats and 46 houses for social rent

Sanctuary Homes has been handed planning permission to build 118 affordable homes in Aberdeen.

The housing association is part of £708m-turnover Sanctuary Group, which owns and manages more than 100,000 homes and provides social care services.

Now it plans for 72 flats and 46 houses for social rent on the site of a former fire station have been given the green light.

The £15m development will include three wheelchair-accessible flats and an assisted living block complete with warden flat.

Construction is due to start in November with scheme finishing up in March 2021.

Sanctuary Group operates across England and Scotland: it aims to build 30,000 homes over coming years and hit a turnover of £1bn by 2020.
