John Weguelin will continue in his role as chair of a fintech bank and is considering further opportunities within the housing sector
Platform Housing Group chair John Weguelin is retiring at the end of this month after six years as head of the board.

Weguelin joined the Midlands-based landlord in January 2020 with a background in financial services, having formerly served as chief executive at Nigerian bank Zenith Bank and the European Islamic Investment Bank.
He has also held several non-executive director roles within the housing sector, including at Stonewater, Sovereign Housing Association and shared ownership provider ReSI Housing.
Weguelin said: “Being involved in housing and Platform has been an absolute privilege and one of the most rewarding periods of my working life.”
Platform credits him with overseeing key business developments including organisational transformation and continued growth in new homes.
Kevin Bolt, interim chief executive at Platform, said: “Weguelin has provided outstanding leadership during his time as chair, guiding Platform through a period of significant change and growth. His focus on doing the right thing for our customers and his commitment to our people has helped shape the organisation we are today.”
Weguelin will continue in his role as chair of fintech bank Griffin and is reportedly considering further opportunities within the housing sector.
Helen Gillett will become the new chair of the 50,000-home landlord. She currently serves as senior independent director on the board of Orbit Group and interim chair at the Government Property Agency.
