The £175m scheme, named Two Springwell Gardens, will be at 142m a third bigger than the current tallest building in Yorkshire, Bridgewater Place, also in Leeds.

The project has been designed by Leeds-based Nick Brown Architects for developer Citylife and is situated close to the city’s main train station, and next to the 224-home One Springwell Gardens scheme currently under construction from the same developer.

Citylife director, Antony Georgallis, said the scheme, which includes vertical sky gardens, high specification apartments, private roof terraces and courtyards, will combine to deliver “a powerful sense of place and community.” He said the plans for Two Springwell Gardens had a “bold visual identity” that if approved will “contribute towards a new skyline for the city.”
