Scott Rutherford will oversee management of 46,000 homes
Orbit Group has appointed Scott Rutherford as its new chief property officer.
Rutherford joins the 46,000-home provider from Travelodge, where he worked for 25 years including most recently as property services director.
He will oversee Orbit’s asset management, repairs, maintenance, safety, and estate management
Rutherford will be responsible for initiatives to help deliver the group’s “everyday excellence” programme to improve customer service, which includes investment in technology to create an “omnichannel” experience and a localised delivery model. His work will also feed into the group’s 2030 strategy, which includes a pledge to build or regenerate 5,700 new homes sustainably by 2030.
Phil Andrew, chief executive of Orbit Group added: “His [Rutherford’s] deep understanding of property management from outside the sector and passion for driving positive change will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our services and make meaningful progress on our 2030 strategy, and strive to provide amongst the best customer experience of any housing association in the country.”
