Newly created role will oversee the business’ New Homes Strategy

Orbit has appointed Brian Nearney as its new chief development officer.

In the newly created role, he will be responsible for delivering Orbit’s 2030 New Homes Strategy, which focuses on the delivery and regeneration of over 5,700 homes.

Nearney was previously regional managing director for Orbit Homes Midlands and South. He joined the 46,000-home social landlord in 2022 having held senior leadership roles with housebuilders and developers.

Prior to this, Nearney served as commercial director at the University of Cambridge, where he was responsible for its development and housebuilding programme, as well as its land strategy.

Nearney said: “I am incredibly proud to be given the opportunity to lead the development business and steer it through this exciting next stage of growth.
