43,000-home housing association misses development targets as it reveals extent of its housebuilding slowdown

Housing association Optivo started work on 722 homes in 2021/22, less than half the number it achieved pre-pandemic.

The 43,000-home housing association, in its unaudited preliminary results, revealed starts are 28% down on the 1,002 reported last year during the covid-19 pandemic lockdown and less than half of the 1,500 posted in 2019/20.
