Grainia Long is leaving NIHE after five years to take up a job

Grainia Long, a former chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing, will leave her role at 85,000-home NIHE in the coming months.

The announcement is one of several new Northern Ireland civil service permanent secretary appointments announced last week.

Nicole Lappin, chair of NIHE, wrote on LinkedIn: ”Congratulations to all new appointees, particularly Long who has been an excellent chief executive at the NIHE for the past five years. Very sorry to be losing her but grateful for all her work to date.”

In addition to leading the CIH between 2011 and 2015, Long also previously served as senior independent director at Thames Valley Housing Association and chief executive at Irish child protection charity ISPCC.

The NIHE manages around 85,000 homes across the country.
