The firm said it remained committed to the scheme despite the huge market uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown measures introduced by the government.

The scheme on a 2.6 acre site in Great Charles Street is Moda’s second in Birmingham following on from its “Mercian” scheme on Broad Street. Together the two will deliver 1,200 homes and an investment in the city of £445m.

Tony Brooks, managing director at Moda, said “times are tough for everyone” at the moment but “Birmingham’s future beyond this is bright”. “Despite the current uncertainty and the challenges facing us all, we remain absolutely committed to Birmingham. We believe this submission puts the interests of the city and people of Birmingham first.”
