Permanent secretary at department also tells PAC that delay to levy won’t increase cost to government

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) did not do an impact assessment on how the Building Safety Levy will affect affordable housing delivery, according to the department’s permanent secretary.

Giving evidence to the House of Commons public accounts committee, deputy chair Clive Betts asked the senior civil servant whether any assessment had been made of the policy’s impact on developers’ ability to fund affordable homes through section 106 contributions.
