The housebuilding arm of Morgan Sindall is teaming up with Walsall Housing Group (WHG) to deliver the homes on the 16.5-acre brownfield site (pictured), which was owned by the Caparo group and has lain empty for more than a decade.

WHG owns and operates around 21,000 homes in the West Midlands.

Plans for the development have been in the works for several years. Funding to kick-start the scheme was provided by Birmingham-based investment group Frontier Development Capital.

Work to remediate the site is being supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

Around 70% of the development will be private homes for sale and rent, with the remaining units deemed affordable, including some for shared ownership and affordable rent.

A reserved matters planning application for the scheme has been submitted, with a decision expected in the summer.
