Lovell, Morgan Sindall’s residential business which is currently working on a number of affordable housing schemes, has named James Duffet as its new managing director for South Wales and the South West.
Duffet (pictured) joins the housebuilder after 14 years at O’Rourke, most recently as a commercial leader for schemes across housing, healthcare and commercial sectors.
He will take the reins of projects including The Mill, near Cardiff, an £100m development set to include 800 homes, 442 of which will be for rent and be managed by Cadwyn Housing Association for Tirion Homes.
Last year Lovell kicked off a £25m development partnering Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and Merthyr Tydfil Housing Association to deliver 153 new homes on an old colliery site near Merthyr Vale in South Wales, 43 of which will be affordable.
It also started work also commenced on the £15m development, Keepers Gate, in Weston-super-Mare to deliver 50 new homes; a £41m development for Homes England at Priorslee, Telford, to create 220 affordable and open market homes.
Lovell has also appointed a land director for the North West of England, North Wales and Scotland. David Carmichael moves after 13 years at housing firm Keepmoat where he was group land and partnerships director.
