Former Morgan Sindall MD to oversee public partnerships

L&G has poached a senior Morgan Sindall executive to be its director of regeneration within its broad-based residential development business.

The insurance giant said it had appointed Wes Erlam, until now the MD of investments at Morgan Sindall, in order to boost L&G’s partnership projects with the public sector.

Erlam has 20 years’ experience in land, development, investment and mixed-use regeneration, of which 12 were at the listed construction firm. He will oversee all L&G’s direct investments in urban regeneration and the firm said the new role underlined the business’ commitment to the “levelling up” agenda.

L&G is already involved in regeneration schemes in Oxford, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield and Cardiff, where it is working alongside councils, government agencies and universities. Its partnerships include a £4bn development plan with Oxford University to build new homes and science facilities for staff and students.

Erlam said he was keen to expand L&G’s regeneration business into new locations. He added: “I am delighted to be joining a business that I regard to be the most innovative and forward-thinking investor in the UK.

”As a leading force for change in the built environment, Legal & General has established an incredible range of genuinely transformational regeneration projects.”
